Preservation and Revival
ABAM is working to preserve the aerodrome and terminal building by continuing maintenance of the airstrip, the surrounds and the original terminal building.
To enable the work to continue ABAM undertakes fund raising things for the day to costs for maintenance of equipment and consumables such as fuel and paint.
Larger projects are also underway such as the refurbishment of a donated food van to be used at fund raising events and for hiring to other community groups and to carry advertising for our supporters.
Another necessary upgrade to the airfield is to have power installed. Having power will enable the premises to be used at night for meetings and will make it more accessible for aviation groups who wish to camp ‘under the wing’ when visiting Tooraweenah and it’s surrounds.
Water has already been installed and eventually it is hoped there will be toilets and a shower block, making the airfield even more attractive to both visitors and for the local community to have another open space for festivals or fairs.
These larger projects are reliant on funding from grants, which the committee is dedicated to applying for.
