ABAM is based in the original terminal building at the Arthur Butler Memorial Aerodrome and the committee is actively involved in the progress, care and maintenance of the site.
Key priorities of the committee are – maintenance of the runway – mowing, slashing and weed control – Increased use of the aerodrome – expand the museum capacity – support Tooraweenah’s tourism, businesses and existing accommodation
Infrastructure goals for the site include – introduce new water and power infrastructure * the water connection has been completed with town water being pumped to a tank on site – new amenties; showers, toilets, kitchen, to support aviation events and camping – new shed for site maintenance – new hangar for aviation museum expansion – conservation of existing aerodrome structures – salvage part of the corrugated steel facade of former Butler Air Transport hangar for adaptive re-use as internal wall lining in new hangar.
