The committee is currently in negotiations with Paul Bennet Airshows to make a return visit in August 2027. A great deal of work needs to be done to get an event of this size from paper to the airfield. Stand by for further details!

October 2008
Memorial Fly-in weekend; to mark the remarkable life and achievements of Arthur Butler and Butler Air Transport
Over 1,000 visitors came to see 50 vintage and modern aircraft, art exhibition, cheese and wine tasting, ‘big bash’ dinner with music at Tooraweenah Showgrounds, unveiling of a replica fuel bowser as used by Arthur Butler on touch down after his record-breaking flight from England on the original site, Sydney Powerhouse came with their display or memorabilia, 40 ex-employees were honoured at a luncheon, 35 market stalls, displays of remote control planes, stationery engines, vintage cars and trucks, blade shearing, spinning and parachuting. Entertainment included buskers and horse and sulky rides. After the very successful one-off event the committee dissolved on 30th June 2009
May 2022
The Arthur Butler Open Day was organised by a new and re-invigorated committee, named Arthur Butler Aviation Museum Inc. Many visitors arrived in airplanes and the event was attended by hundreds of visitors.
May 2023
A very successful air rally, ‘Winging it down the Castlereagh’, was held with 15 competitors flying a course that followed the Castlereagh River . Hundreds of viewers enjoyed the spectacle and the visiting market stalls.
June 2024
Another event was organised but had to cancelled due to poor weather
April 2025
Tooraweenah Air Show. With headliner Paul Bennet Airshow as the main attraction over 2 thousand visitors turned out to peruse the arts and craft stalls on display, to support local community organisations and to marvel at the astounding acrobatics performed by Paul Bennet and his team of precision aerobatic pilots putting on a gravity defying display. There were also vintage planes available for joy flights over the amazing Warrumbungle Range.
April 2026
Australian Sport Rotorcraft Association (ASRA) National fly-in was held over the weekend of 17-19 April. It attracted 53 members, guests and interested parties some of whom arrived in aircraft, 18 in all. Attendees were able to use the Tooraweenah Memorial Hall for their presentations and as a ‘mess hall’. There was a Fly-in dinner catered for by the Mountain View Hotel and accommodations were taken at Tooraweenah caravan Park, The Mountain View Hotel and the Crossroads Cabins. The event was so successful that ASRA are hoping to come back in April 2027
